Senior - 55+; Super Senior - 65+

Players 65+ may elect to play in the Senior division. It is the responsibility of the player to inform the HGA that they would like to play in the Senior division prior to their qualifier registration closing.

Players must have at minimum 6 months permanent residency in the Greater Houston area which includes the following counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller.

Entries are open to male amateur golfers who: (a) have current USGA Handicap Indexes issued from a USGA “Authorized Golf Club” that do not exceed 9 to 11 and (b) minimum 6 months permanent residency in the Greater Houston area which includes the following counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller. A list of “Authorized Golf Clubs” licensed to use the USGA Handicap System may be found online at www.usga.org under Handicapping. Exempt players must also meet these requirements

Amateur Exemptions

(1) Past Champions since 2021-2025; (2) 2025 Top Twenty Finishers & Ties; (3) Texas Statewide Champions -- 2025 Mid-Amateur, 2025 Mid-Amateur Match Play, 2025 Amateur (4) Qualifiers for USGA Championships – 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2025 U.S. Amateur, 2025 U.S. Open, (5) From the 2025 Texas Golf Association South Region - top 5 finishers; (6) 2025 TGA South Region Amateur Champion; (7) 2025 Greater Houston Senior City Amateur Champion; (8) 2025 Timms Cup winners; (9) 2026 Four-Ball winners.

Senior Amateur Exemptions

(1) Past Champions Senior & Super Senior Divisions since 2021-2025 (consecutive years); (2) 2025 Top Ten Finishers Senior Division & Ties; 2a) 2025 Super Senior Division Top Five Finishers & Ties; (3) Texas Statewide Champion - 2025 Senior Amateur Champion; (4) Qualifiers for the following USGA Championships – 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur, 2025 U.S. Senior Open; (5) 2025 Greater Houston City Amateur Champion (must meet age requirement); (6) 2025 Steve Timms Cup winners (must meet age requirement); (7) 2026 HGA Four-Ball winners (must meet age requirement).

Players may sign up for an additional qualifier after an unsuccessful attempt. However, the player will be placed on the waiting list for that site. The player will be included in the qualifier field on the day of the qualifier on a space available basis.
