About Us

SINCE 1946

The Houston Golf Association (HGA) has organized high-profile professional and amateur golf events in the Greater Houston area to support its mission to make a difference in the lives of youth through its charitable programs. The HGA, a not-for-profit, tax exempt 501c (3) organization is a prolific charitable fundraiser, bolstered by a strong group of members and volunteers.

For the last 25 years the Shell Houston Open has played a crucial role in raising more than $60 million for Houston charities. The First Tee® of Greater Houston reaches more than 300,000 young people annually through character development programming in over 460 public schools and nine green grass facilities. The HGA Academic Scholarship Program has generated nearly $1.25 million in college scholarships and the HGA Junior Golf Program gives young golfers the right foundation for future success in the sport.

Houston Golf Association proudly celebrates 70 years of making a difference in the community, and today, is working to extend its impact even further by restoring Houston’s municipal golf courses for the enjoyment of all.
