Week 7 Results

July 14, 2012 -

Heavy rough was the story at PSE-Kingwood as the Forest Course played the toughest test to date with a stroke average of 82.81.

The event also served as a Last Chance qualifier for the 85th Texas State Junior Championship conducted by Alliance Partner Legends Junior Golf Tour. After day 1, Raul Hernandez (71, -1), Lonnie Smith (74, +2) and George Doykan (75, +3) punched their tickets to Horshoe Bay.

However, there was still a PSE champion to be decided and Doykan rose to the challenge carding an even par 72 in round 2 that included a birdie, birdie finish to capture his first PSE title and four (4) AJGA Performance Stars.

Colin Mulligan fired a second round 75 to win his third PSE in 2012; a victory that moved him to the top of the Boys 12-14 Player of the Year standings.

When it came down to excitement, the girls divisions did not disappoint. The Wang sisters, Beryl and Amber, each took their age divisions with matching 159 totals, but had to play off to settle who would take home the four (4) AJGA Performance Stars. In the end, it was younger sister Beryl who made a routine par to take the honor.

After the tournament concluded and points were handed out, five HGA Junior Golfers found themselves with invitations to the Legends Junior Tour George Hannon Junior Invitational. Raul Hernandez, Mario Carmona, Colin Mulligan, Amber Wang and Heather Shake were awarded exemptions into the event due to their Player of the Year standings to date.
