2012 HGA Junior Golf Special Events
April 12, 2012 -

HGA Junior Golf has five "Special Events" on the calendar for 2012. Each tournament is open to ALL members and has something unique about it.
THE NEZZIE - Riverbend Country Club, June 13
The 'Nez Muhleman Fundraiser for Junior Girls, formerly known as the Jerry Koppel Memorial Tournament, was created in 1991 to support the Junior Girls' Travel Fund. This fund assists in defraying the cost of travel expenses and caddie fees for Texas junior girls who qualify for the USGA Girls Junior Championship. Each junior girl will be paired with a group of three as they compete not only against other teams, but against the other juniors in the field. The cost of this event is $30.
HGA JUNIOR MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Memorial Park Golf Course, July 9-12
This tournament is the largest event of the summer with a field size of 144 juniors. All 144 will play at least two rounds at Memorial Park Golf Course. After each participant has completed 36 holes of Stroke Play competition the low 16 boys and 8 girls from each age division will be seeded into brackets and move on to Match Play. The cost of this event is $80 for up to 6 rounds of golf, will be ranked on Junior Golf Scoreboard and hold AJGA Performance Based Entry.
EDDIE BURKE SR. YOUNG HOUSTONIAN - Memorial Park Golf Course, July 23-25
This 54-hole Stroke Play event is for juniors ages 15-24 years of age split into a Boys division and Girls division. It's the only time during the season where our former HGA juniors have the opportunity to come back and compete against our current members. With a field size of 96 players, this event is not only ranked on Junior Golf Scoreboard but the World Amateur Golf Rankings as well. The cost of this tournament is $80.
HGA JUNIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - The Clubs of Kingwood, August 8-9
This 36-hole, Stroke Play competition is the only event on our schedule where juniors can team up with a friend and compete. Teams of two will play Four Ball on Day 1 and Foursomes or "Alternate Shot" on Day 2 much like the Ryder Cup. Teams can consist of juniors from different age groups (though they will compete in the older age division) and may be coed. The only requirement is that both juniors be members of HGA Junior Golf. This event is open to 48 teams and the cost is $110 per team ($55 per player). Juniors must find their own partner.
CLAUDE HARMON PARENT-JUNIOR - Redstone Golf Club, August 25
This 18-hole, two-man scramble event is the one time all year parents get to team up with their juniors and compete. The tournament will be held on the Tournament Course which hosts the PGA TOUR's Shell Houston Open. This event is only open to 36 teams and the cost is $205 per team. Juniors may play with adults other than their parents.
