Shell Houston Open Opportunities

Ticket Policy

2016 HGA Junior Golf Members are admitted to the PGA TOUR Shell Houston Open free of charge with their 2016 membership bag tag. All returning members who renew prior to March 6, 2017 will receive their bag tags in time to attend the Shell Houston Open.

Pro-Junior

HGA Junior Golf Members will be invited to play in the 2016 Shell Houston Open Pro-Junior on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Golf Club of Houston. Juniors will be paired with a PGA TOUR Professional.

HGA Junior Golf Members must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for this unique opportunity:

  • Must be a 2016 & 2017 HGA Junior Golf Member
  • Complete a minimum of six 18-hole tournament rounds between June 10 – September 1, 2015 in HGA Junior Golf sanctioned events
  • Serve as a *Guest Mentor during TWO(2) The First Tee™ of Greater Houston classes which must be completed by March 6, 2017

Selections will be determined by the 2015 HGA Junior Golf Point Standings and chosen from each of the Performance and Junior Series Event age groups based on the number of eligible applicants.

Selections will be announced Monday, March 14, 2017.

Standard Bearer

To be eligible a Junior Golfer must serve as a *Guest Mentor during ONE(1) The First Tee™ of Greater Houston class which must be completed by March 6, 2017. Once the junior golfer has completed one session they will be included in a drawing to participate as a standard bearer during the Shell Houston Open.

Standard bearer’s are responsible for carrying and updating the scoring sign that indicates the PGA TOUR player’s relation to par during the Shell Houston Open (i.e. Anthony Kim -14). Standard bearer’s walk with an assigned group inside the ropes.

*A Guest Mentor will volunteer during 90-minute class at The First Tee™ of Greater Houston’s Redstone location in Humble, Houston Oaks location in Hockley, Quail Valley location in Missouri City, Law Park location in Houston, or the River Plantation location in Conroe. As a Guest Mentor, HGA Junior Golfers will serve as role models to participants, shadow program volunteers while helping deliver a core lesson, and provide a 1-2 minute overview at the end of the class on how they became involved in golf, what they enjoy about playing and their short-term and long-term goals.
