The First Tee of Greater Houston
The First Tee of Greater Houston is operated by the Houston Golf Association. Three facilities — The First Tee of Greater Houston at Redstone, The First Tee of Greater Houston at Houston Oaks and The First Tee at Quail Valley Golf Course — are staffed by HGA employees or volunteers. Awarded to the Houston Golf Association The First Tee of Greater Houston at Redstone, chartered in April of 2004, provides a place where youngsters not only learn to play golf, but also learn invaluable life skills. The First Tee of Greater Houston at Houston Oaks began offering small classes in 2009 and opened its campus facilities in March of 2010. The First Tee of Greater Houston location at Quail Valley Golf Course began programming in September of 2012.
Research has proven that our participants are learning and using life skills such as goal setting, interpersonal communication, self-management and resistance skills in their daily lives.

The First Tee Life Skills Experience
Through The First Tee Life Skills Experience, The First Tee of Greater Houston teaches participants the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, making decisions, setting goals and transferring values such as responsibility, honesty, and respect from the golf course to everyday life. Participants progress through The First Tee certification levels of PLAYer, Par, Advanced Par, Birdie, Eagle, and Ace while being introduced to different golf and life skills.
Programming is available to any child 7-18 years of age based on class size. Participants join the program when they register for a PLAYer class, the first level of The First Tee Program. Members enjoy many benefits, including free access to our green-grass facilities.
National School Program
Thanks to fundraising efforts by the Houston Golf Association, The First Tee of Greater Houston is reaching out to local school districts by providing equipment and training to certified physical educators so that they may introduce children to the game of golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values ™ during regular physical education classes. Elementary schools from the following school districts are involved — Aldine, Clear Creek, Cy-Fair, Dickinson, Fort Bend, Galena Park, Houston, Humble, Texas City, Waller and West Houston Christian Athletic Conference.
